Tarmac ribbons criss-crossing the landscape, dusty back roads twisting between the cool shadows of ancient pines, and less traveled pathways connecting present to past, all I wander, seeking, seeing, with my keyboard and camera capturing scenes and stories to share with you.

Now in its seventh year, this venue has become an important part of my life, a place where I can express my thoughts and feelings about the things I see and do, hoping the process brings me a bit closer to friends and family who enjoy sharing my sometimes chaotic and often nonlinear observations and ideas. A journal, I suppose, but one with which I find pleasure in thinking others are alongside me on my journey.

SOMEWHERE IN THE MEDITERRANEAN SEA: CREW NIGHT!

... this evening i attended the "crew night," a stage show presented by the cabin stewards, cafe workers, etc., most of whom are from indonesia ... i took my camera, hoping that the guesswork surgery i did on it this afternoon was going to fix whatever-it-was that was messin' up my images, and while enjoying the show i snapped a few pictures ...

... a note to the fabulous crew of the m.s. rotterdam, who i'm finding to be one of the very best parts of this wonderful new experience:   if you click on images they will enlarge ... the copyright mark on these photographs is simply a habit, i am releasing the full rights to the members of the crew, you may do with them as you wish as long as my little set of initials is left intact ... the files posted on this page are of low-resolution/quality, and intended only for web use ... if you would like the full-quality print versions, either heri or wayan will have a usb drive containing them ... also, you may download both print and web versions at:

... use those to your heart's content, give your relatives the url (www.patrickgroleau.com) so that they, too, can see this page ...

... to all of you, i hope you enjoy these pictures as much as i appreciate the great care you have been taking of my brother and me ...

... kudos to the crew of the m.s. rotterdam, thank you for a wonderful show—thank you for a wonderful journey ...
