Tarmac ribbons criss-crossing the landscape, dusty back roads twisting between the cool shadows of ancient pines, and less traveled pathways connecting present to past, all I wander, seeking, seeing, with my keyboard and camera capturing scenes and stories to share with you.

Now in its seventh year, this venue has become an important part of my life, a place where I can express my thoughts and feelings about the things I see and do, hoping the process brings me a bit closer to friends and family who enjoy sharing my sometimes chaotic and often nonlinear observations and ideas. A journal, I suppose, but one with which I find pleasure in thinking others are alongside me on my journey.

2013 WANDER-ABOUT: DAY 0

... i was going to drive to new hampshire today, but adrien and sara had the idea that it would be best for me to beat the storm by leaving early ... both of 'em, way smart girls ... on monday night the roads were clear and dry all the way, this morning i awoke to spring's rather ironic arrival ... such, of course, is best appreciated by either spending a day hurtling down the ice covered slopes of a steep mountain, or, in my case, making an effort to emulate that other favorite activity of the region's residents, steaming a lobster 'til it's bright red all over ...

... while i suffered the hot tub sara cleared the driveway and road so she could get out to take a business trip down to springfield ... i'd have helped, but yesterday's visit to the orthopedist left me swearing off such activities for awhile ... (and, no, motorcycle riding wasn't about to be put on that list) ...

... hopefully, this'll be the last my car looks like this for awhile, otherwise i'm going to have to get the dealer to put studded tires on my new motorcycle ...

... rufus, of course, enjoyed the time by running in circles until he was exhausted, then took a break for a snack of fresh snow ...

... great scenery, good company, a hot tub, and a coffee machine, all-in-all, i'd say this year's wander-about is off to a great start ... tomorrow morning at six o'clock adrien and i will head out for the rest of our journey ...

... p.s. 10:35 pm ... gordy had to move another six inches of snow off the driveway ... i moved the car up to the road while he worked and cleaned it, the backed it down the drive so that i'll be able to blast my way out in the morning ...
