THE WIRE BRIDGE, DISCOVERED

... walker and i had an afternoon to live, so we decided to do a bit of scouting for an upcoming family outing ... after a stop at the general store in anson to pick up the fixin's for a nice picnic, we followed the famous "katie's crotch road" along the carrabassett river ... when we got out of the car it was rather chill for this time of year ... i hadn't planned very well, so it turned out we owe a thanks to liz for loaning us her sweater ...

... table provided courtesy the last ice age, we sat down for our meal ...

... after we'd eaten lunch and were enjoying a "gummy sharks" desert, walker became friendly with one of the local residents ...

... picnic site properly tidied, walker began to explore ...

... very soon it was time for rock throwing ...

... i'm not sure it's possible, but to my eye this one took a bit of a curve in flight ...

... thinking that perhaps major league baseball might not be enough for his skills, walker began practicing with a "braemar stone" in case he might someday want to compete in the scottish highland games ...

... after awhile came a little hike to find more perfect stones ...

... "mister groleau, listen to the sound it makes" ...

... nolan, sandy, cy—eat your hearts out ...

... for moments as this the stream exists ...

... "these're coming home with me" ...

... ma and pa never wrote it down, of course, but i know that one of their lessons was that if you pay attention there are ways the perfection of a day can be measured ...

... i'm so glad i learned ...
