... matt likes lighthouses, so he and jon and i packed our cameras and headed over to pemaquid point ... we arrived to unusually calm seas and an extremely low tide, such that i was able to scramble over the rocks all the way to the very end of land (okay, still healing up i suppose "hobble" would be a better word, but that made me all the more appreciative of my explorations) ... atop the pegmatite point i met johann, who is from germany ... he, as have been i for over forty years, was equally mystified and entranced by this magical place ...
... seeing as it was a two and one-half hour drive from new hampshire, the original "plan" was that pemaquid be our turn-around point ... the day transformed into a true wanderabout when we decided to drive an hour further to the east so that we could photograph the sunset at marshall point ... wide angle affixed to my fuji, i quickly discovered a new way to see the lighthouse ...
... this is the result of eight images, each focussed upon a different spot, after they've been "stacked" and processed in photoshop so that the final picture has great depth-of-sharpness ...
... each of us staked out a different spot ... john was at the very edge of the sea way off to my left, while matt set his tripod up somewhere on the other side of the lighthouse so that he could photograph the structure as it was being painted by the light from the setting sun ...
... further proof that my ankle is healing up nicely, i managed to sprint (okay, this one we'll use the term "speed hobble") up to the keeper's house to snap a nice picture of jennifer and beth, who had found a spot seemingly intended for bringing life to a momentary pause ... i liked that they understood this place, and it pleased me to think they're going to take an important piece of it back with them to their homes in maryland ...
... we made a wonderful wanderabout, which made this a wonderful day—a most wonderful day, indeed ...
