2013 WANDER-ABOUT: DAYS 2-4 - PART 1

OLYMPUS E-P1 PROJECT
... after our long drive to ohio, we enjoyed spending some time with jon ... a bit of shopping, oil change for the chevy, and a couple of movies on his gimungous flat-screen made for a relaxing day ... then, it was off for chicago ...

OLYMPUS E-P1 PROJECT
... jon got us a room in the drake hotel ... on his dime, for sure, since it's quite a bit of an upgrade from my usual choice, the super 8 motel ... the first evening we took a cab to the sear's tower (new name, but i've forgotten it again), where it turned out to be helpful that adrien had gotten the tickets in advance for the glass balcony ... we were lucky to enjoy the view of a fabulous sunset, then we walked back to the hotel ...

OLYMPUS E-P1 PROJECT
... on our stroll we stopped in millennium park to view the giant chrome jelly bean statue ...

OLYMPUS E-P1 PROJECT
... today, saturday, we took the el down to visit the aquarium ... a bit over priced, perhaps, but adrien especially enjoyed the penguins and we had a nice time viewing all the other sea creatures (most of which i'd like to have for supper) ... the blue iguanas from cayman weren't blue, but the playful antics of the otters made up for that ...

OLYMPUS E-P1 PROJECT
... changing our plans, we decided to skip the u-boat and just walk the streets a bit ...

OLYMPUS E-P1 PROJECT
... the navy pier turned out to be a great place to eat, and, as a bonus, the stained glass museum was absolutely first class ...

OLYMPUS E-P1 PROJECT
... we treated ourselves to a giant ferris wheel view of the chicago skyline ... it's the first time i've every been on a ferris wheel that never stops, walk-on and walk-off while it's in motion ... $6.00 for one seven minute revolution, turned out to be a good deal ...

OLYMPUS E-P1 PROJECT
... we had a lot more adventures after the navy pier, but since we've a long ride to south dakota tomorrow, a segment of our little wander-about that it appears were going to have to make in the midst of a mid-west spring blizzard, i'll save that for the next entry ...
