X-T1 SALMAGUNDI

... yes, you're correct, the word "assortment" would've sufficed ... but, "salmagundi," i just couldn't resist ...

... in a terribly funk of a discouraging mood, i hopped atop my trusty bmw and drove up to thompson's in bingham, where the excellent cuisine and friendly service is always greatly cheering ... waiting for my meal i enjoyed watching several québécois converse ...

... knowing what medicine works best, after wandering down route 16 i headed out to east pond for a cruise to "the rocks" for a swim ... amanda and bella beat me into the cool water ...

... twenty-seven years teaching together, my good friend chuck, who always reminds me of santiago ...

“But man is not made for defeat, a man can be destroyed but not defeated.”
ERNEST HEMINGWAY—The Old Man and the Sea

... amanda and i did a selfie ...

... bella and i did a selfie, too ... again, i ask myself, what is it about my nose ...

... amanda's a scientist-sailor, for a few days home from the sea ...

... these pictures were taken with my new fuji x-t1 ... most were shot using "old fashioned" manual-focus manual-aperture lenses ... from the past, skills i had forgotten i possess are slowly reemerging ...

... bella, like amanda, is at home on and in the water ...

... after east pond i continued on with my wandering ... at mount vernon i found c.j. busy-busy with whatever-it-is he does ... rex, it seems, was busy-busy with what he does so well ...

... my first wild critter photograph using the fuji x-t1 ... this was taken through a forty-year old underground camera brand 135mm telephoto ... in it's day this piece of glass was considered to have only one virtue, if you lost it you weren't out all that much money ... i'm amazed how well it performed with the fuji as "film" ... c.j. said, "if he's eating our plants we'll have to shoo him away" ... i laughed, "won't work, believe me, all you can do is trap him and move him to a distant county or get out the shotgun" ...

... in the backyard ...

... since our days together in uniform, c.j.'s one of the best thinkers i've ever met, i have a feeling that that's what they pay him to do ...

... jacqueline smiles most wonderfully ...

... "would you like to stay for supper" ... so, while waiting, another stroll around the yard ... this was in very, very dim lighting, another score point for the fuji ...

... the non-bayer arranged fuji x-trans sensor does, indeed, beautifully capture skin tones ...

... this afternoon while i was working robert came in to package up some books to mail ... i've no idea what he was thinking as he worked at the computer, but i did warn him, "you should be more careful making faces when i'm sitting here testing out a new camera" ...

... david stopped by to show me his new trike ... what a beautiful machine ...

... i'm only in the very first stages of understanding the x-t1, but, as rick said to louie, "i think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship" ...
