ANOTHER DAY, A DIFFERENT STORM

WITTNAUER FESTIVAL-STEINER 45MM-EKTACHROME-ISO 80*
... nunaka valley, alaska, winter of 1960, i believe ... when i say winter, of course, i mean this could have been anytime between september and may ... contrary to common belief, however, we didn't get all that much snow accumulation in anchorage, being that it was so far south and along the ocean ... the cold, however, that was a different story ... if this was taken in mid-winter, which the engine block machine hole heating element would indicate, then the temperature could have been as low as -40°f ... i remember how ma had a serious melt-down when in just such conditions pa was preparing to take his boy scouts, of which mike was one, on their "winter survival" camping trip ... she expressed to him many distinctive opinions, of which "g** d***** crazy" was of the milder variants ... i was secretly proud when i heard my brother whisper, "doesn't she get it, we're scouts" ...

SPECIAL NOTE
... i've just posted a complete revision of my web site, as well as altered slightly the layout of this journal ... "links" are now located in the upper right of the window, where they're easier to see ... the website itself has many changes, and, i hope, is now a bit easier to navigate ... major alterations have been made to the "46350" section, and i've begun the process of posting many of my photographs to albums which will work on both computers and flash deprived iPads ... i'd be happy if you'd take a bit of time to explore the site, and would greatly appreciate feedback of any kind ... thanks ...
