HOUSESITTING IN FREEDOM - DAY 2

... sara and gordy are having their living room expanded out into the sun porch, so all the while i've been here has been the sound of pounding and drilling and cutting ... cleaning down to the studs, then installing new windows, insulation and sheet rock, that's been a fairly normal routine so far, but today they're getting to the really cool stuff ... this morning they managed to install a new temporary wall, then completely removed what was almost two-thirds of the house's western load bearing wall ...

... i love the sound of construction in the morning ... i love watching carpenters work, especially when they're modifying or retrofitting a structure ... sipping my coffee and snapping pictures, i love serving witness to their labors ... mostly, i think, i kinda love being retired, on vacation, and quite seriously before-noon lazy ...

... p.s. i'll withhold judgement until the job's done, of course, but just watching their clean, efficient, thoughtful work habits i'm much impressed ...

... and, yes, i did go outside to today ... made a little ride up to conway to get milk and pancake mix for supper ... stopped at whitehouse motorcycle to get some brake fluid ... a nice man showed me how to read the fluid level indicator, then took the reservoir cap off for me so we could inspect directly the brake fluid ... turns out i was reading the level incorrectly, everything was as it is supposed to be ... another gold star for a most excellent business model ...

... i started to fix sarah's window, but it turned out that i was right about the underlying water damage, so i stopped ... monday i'll get the experts shown above to make an estimate ...

... adrien came over for supper, a nice ending to a nice day ...
