WANDERING MORE

... along the new hampshire/maine border i wandered back roads and dirt lanes ...

... often i would park my bike and just sit for awhile ...

... i reclined within a magenta forest ...

... this i might title "mysteriously compelling" ...

... i keep revisiting these columbines ... today i noticed the violet juxtaposition ...

... again, the beetle ...

... this i might title "sensuously green" ...

... i'm waiting, still ...

... a tree, felled years ago along the lot's back line ...

... ferns, as they've been for hundreds of millions of years, unchanged ...

One touch of nature makes the whole world kin.
WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE

... my last full day in new hampshire, today i wandered a relatively untraveled route 113a ...

... unlike the last time i drove this road, when the tarmac was rutted and potholed to the point that it was worse than a dirt tote road, today i found that a nice long section  of 113a had been paved just long enough ago that the surface had dried yet was still smoothly pristine ... despite the temptation, however, i ended up puttering along to the point that when i filled my bmw's gas tank i was so surprised i had to check my calculations three times ... 88 miles per gallon ... !!! ...

... today was a gentle time ...
