CABIN FEVER MEDICINE

... john dropped in for coffee ... i'd just baked a really nice pound cake (secret is to use 1/2 & 1/2 instead of milk), so the coffee was especially good ... we decided to go for a short wanderabout, medicine with which to counter the inevitable cabin fever that arrives with february ...

... we stopped first along the road at the village cemetery in smithfield ...

... a darkening sky, although not as bad as the end of december this time of year the light still fades early, john said, "let's go up to cape cod hill, maybe we'll get a good sunset" ... as the sun descended towards the western horizon we explored the edge of the road ...

... from an ice storm earlier in the winter, great chunks of ice thrown up by the snow plows lined the sides of the road ...  this particular jagged ice tooth reminded me of a movie about mount everest i recently watched ...

... one of my favorite fields, cut stalks of last fall's hay gently hidden beneath a quiet blanket of snow ...

... so beautiful, i actually had to remind myself to snap pictures ...

... me, waiting for the above ...

... driving home on route 2 we stopped at the mercier bog to view the sunset painted on the clouds that were marching across the eastern horizon ...

... a great truck flew by as very carefully we walked back to the car ...

... we drove home, happy not so much for the images we might've captured as it was for the fact we'd gone out to see ...
