DEER ISLE WANDERABOUT

... the day before my flight to nicaragua john and i made a little wanderabout ... i drove the car while i let him do all the navigating, so best i know is that some of these were taken out along the coast near sunshine on deer isle ...

... thin layers of ice left behind by the outgoing tide ...

... i could enjoy living on this little cove ... i doubt i could afford the real estate taxes, however, which adds to my appreciation of a visit ...

... "cast away," or, perhaps, "castaway" ... i'll let you decide ...

... john is so working his new "super-duper" lens ...

... traces of the great industry that used to dominate this shore ...

... now, ever so slowly, nature reclaims ...

... still winter in the lee of the bluff ...

... what was a century ago the bustling focus of great commerce and international trade is now a pleasurable composition for artists and a wonderful place for seagulls to perch ...

... i formed three different theories as to how this piling came to burn like this ...

... while in late february winter still blusters at the edge of the sea, it has lost its bite and its bark is slowly softening to summer's song ...

... what more can i say than:  "blue boat at low tide" ...

... how exciting that i actually planned this picture ... how lucky that the speeding rig didn't scape an inch off my ass ... how sad that those who funded, designed and built such a fascinating structure made no provisions for either bicycles or pedestrians ...

... and, with this, i'm off for nicaragua ...
