HOUSESITTING IN FREEDOM - DAY 3

... did a little wandering this afternoon ... drove down route 116, stopping along the way for a nice basket lunch of fried haddock and chips ... the fish was so good it made sense to order a dessert plate of fresh steamers ... after that i turned onto route 117 ... three dead-end roads later i managed to find my way to route 153 ...

... along the way i chanced upon this little house ...

... i was most fascinated by the weathered paint and wood clapboards ...

... the thing itself or its attributes, in photography it is sometimes most difficult to decided which is more interesting ...

... the drive along route 153 was quite relaxing ... it meanders along the border of new hampshire and maine, near province lake within only a few feet crossing from one state to the other and back again ...

... returning to the house, i decided to snap a few pictures of the flowers in the yard before settling in for the evening ...

... while i very, very carefully tended the chex mix, adrien took the dog for a walk ... between my "stir every ten minutes" responsibilities i snuck out to see if i could manage a picture of the two of them as they returned home ...

"Perhaps one central reason for loving dogs is that they take us away from this obsession with ourselves.  When our thoughts start to go in circles, and we seem unable to break away, wondering what horrible event the future holds for us, the dog opens a window into the delight of the moment."
