HOUSESITTING IN FREEDOM - DAY 6

... this morning i decided to do a little back roads wandering ... my "goal" was to end up somewhere near conway ... twisting and turning for about forty minutes, mostly on either unimproved pavement or dirt, i ended up popping out onto route 25 in maine ... those of you with a sense of maine and new hampshire geography will know that i clearly wasn't using either my g.p.s. unit or a map ...

... alongside the road in downtown freedom i passed this giant american flag ...

... i stopped for a few minutes to explore the intersection that is freedom's thriving town center ...

... once i ended up on route 25 i continued on until i found route 160, upon which i headed north ... i took a little side trip when i saw a sign pointing to the "kezar iron works" ... that was nothing like i expected, and the road eventually became a gravelly surface i wasn't comfortable exploring, so i turned back towards the state highway ... in a field alongside the road i chanced upon a most intriguing tale ...

... i finally made my way to north conway, where i searched out adrien's favorite bakery ... alas, it was closed ... i stopped to enjoy a cup of coffee while admiring the view of the mount washington valley, then headed home to cook supper ...
